Before we dive in, I would like to start with prayer.
Dear Heavenly Father,
I come to you today first off wanting to thank you Dear God. Thank you for your presence Lord. Thank you for this opportunity to be your students and learn your word which will ultimately benefit us. Dear God I ask that you open up our minds and hearts and let your word enter us and touch us in a way that only your word can do Dear God. Dear God I ask that you allow this scripture today to speak to us and move us closer to you Dear God. Allow this word to reach not only our ears and mind, but our spirit as well Dear God. In Jesus name I pray. Amen
Today’s bible study will be taken from James 1:12 NIV. It reads as followed:
Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love Him.
Well it’s half way through the week and I am sure that many of you have been going through. You’ve had some people trying to press your buttons. The enemy has been trying to steal your joy. He’s been trying to destroy that peace and comfort that you and God have worked so hard to build and ultimately he has been trying to kill your faith; because without your faith you’re just a dead soul wondering.
It’s half way through the week and I bet some of you have been allowing others to get the best of you! You have been allowing the enemy to come in your life and kill, steal and destroy. And, I ask, WHY?
Why are you allowing these hardships to get the best of you when you have the Almighty, Great I Am, Maker of Heaven and Earth, Magnificent , All Knowing, All Power Holding God with you wherever you go? Why are you allowing the enemy to beat you? Why are you allowing yourself to fail this test?
Joshua 1:9 says that the Lord, your God is with you wherever you go. Wherever you go. This means anywhere you go, everywhere you go GOD IS WITH YOU.
Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial. Blessed is the man who endures temptation. Or, as the New Living Translation says, God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation.
Blessed is the man who holds his tongue. Or how about blessed is the man that understands that he has power in his tongue!? How many of you know that you have power in your tongue? That if you have faith in God and understand whose and who you are, you have the ability to declare a victory over your enemy…That it can be you wearing that crown.
When you know whose, and who you are, you can tell your enemy greater is he that is in me than in he that is of the world because by faith you know, that you know, that you know that God is with you at all times and you don’t have to worry about what the next person is saying and you don’t have to loose your cool when the enemy is trying to steal your joy. You can just keep on smiling and singing I have the Joy on the Lord on the inside of me because you will already know you have victory over your enemies and that you have already won this test. (That’s faith. As my pastor would have put it; faith is knowing that it is already done while hope is merely believing that it shall come to pass.) You just might get so cocky as to say bring on some more test! Keeping testing me because blessed is he that can endure the test. Keep on testing me because I will endure this test and when it’s all said and done I will be wearing the crown.
I can withstand the test; can you?
